book cover and spread of forests, fables, and folktales
Forests, Fables, & Folktales is a contemporary book comprised of a collection of Aesop's fables. Aesop's fables are the world's best known collection of morality tales.

The goal was to design a visually compelling book cover and spreads for a contemporary publication, expressive or representative of the fables chosen.

The typographic system of dilational was used as a grid of the spreads. In the fables, part of the moral story in both is demonstrating strength and personifying courage in actions that you take. The dilational system demonstrates this because of its focal point. Hercules is an embodiment of strength and courage. The boy, on the other hand, is a portrayal of someone who needs to learn these qualities. The paragraphs being broken apart represents the flow of the stories — it wasn't a particularly smooth journey.
